The Palamatic board lifting systems can be used whenever unprocessed or laminated wooden boards have to be manipulated horizontally. Typical jobs for this lifter are to grip and lift wooden boards from a stack for feeding into a horizontal saw or punch machine. One of the most difficult wood working processes involves rotating heavy boards and turning heavy panels by 180 degrees. These processes include situations where boards need to be worked on both sides – machining and laminating of boards. The smarter choice

Roll (reel) handling poses many ergonomic problems for process operatives. Roll lifting is necessary where they are removed from printing or converting machines to be stacked on pallets. At the other end of the production line this process is reversed. This process can also involve roll manipulation/rotation through 90 degrees. Reels can ‘telescope’ when picked from the core using mechanical grippers and, in many cases the reel has to be re-wound. Occasionally this can mean a totally wasted reel.

Damage to the edge of the reel is widespread when badly handled. As with all manual handling of heavy loads the operator cannot always protect the product if dropped or knocked against a work surface. The Palamatic reel manipulating systems solve both problems with specially designed suction pads to cope with varying diameters.

Grip is achieved across all the windings which, when lifted, prevents any spiralling occurring. Because the reel is now weightless the operator can exercise more care when manoeuvring it. With the addition of manual or pneumatically powered turning systems, the reel can safely and easily be turned through 90°.

The Palamatic rubber bale vacuum lifter is the standard solution to the awkward task of rubber bale and block handling. A vacuum suction cup is specially designed to compensate for uneven surfaces by employing a flexible rubber suction seal. As natural rubber bales often require manipulation to release before lifting, the Palamatic vacuum lifter is robust in design and includes a ‘universal coupling’ to prevent damage to the main vacuum lift tube.

The thin plastic film that covers rubber bales is pierced using a set of perforation pins mounted in the suction head to effect a solid grip on the load. The Palamatic rubber bale handler offers the customer a user-friendly solution to the Manual Handling Regulations, whilst maintaining and often increasing productivity

Common practise is for operators to manually lift, inspect and stack pallets outdoors, exposed to harsh working conditions. This can be an area of high industrial injury, with back and hand injuries most common. Another problem is caused by the remnants of packaging clinging to the pallets.

Palamatic’s answer is the pallet inspection system. This consists of a specially designed fork attached to a vacuum lifting unit, easily controlled by a single operator. The pallet can be lifted quickly and safely from a stack, hovered at a workable height and rotated horizontally through 360° for inspection purposes. In this hands-free operation any waste can be removed and placed in a nearby skip. This laborious task has been made easy, with single operators now able to inspect up to 200, 45kg pallets in one hour.
